Fostering Trade in Africa: Trade Relations, Business Opportunities, and Policy Instruments

The World Trade Organization and the Trade Policy Training Centre in Africa (TRAPCA) will be cohosting an online book launch for the new publication Fostering Trade in Africa: Trade Relations, Business Opportunities, and Policy Instruments.

The book is written and co-edited by African scholars and practitioners, examining “the effects of trade policies and other policy instruments on Africa’s economic development and presents workable policy measures for a more business-friendly environment. Some of the various topics include African regional integration and the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), digital trade, implementation of WTO trade agreements, trade facilitation, One Belt-One Road Initiative, US-Africa trade relations, and Aid-for-Trade.”

The launch will take place on 23 June 2020, from 16h00 to 17h30.

The moderator of this event will be Patrick Low, Former Chief Economist, World Trade Organization. Speakers will include Dr. Gbadebo Odularu, Chief Editor; Ms. Mena Hassan, Co-editor, WTO; Mr. Tsotetsi Makong, author, TRAPCA; and Amb. Dr. Athaliah Molokomme, Permanent Representative of Botswana to the WTO.
